We discussed what the outline was going to be this week since we have our course selection to choose what electives to take in grade nine, which would kind of change our regular class schedule . We also took notes on our webbing project and what the expectations were and what were the important aspects that we needed to include to have an awesome project. Ms.lees handed us all out a handout called concept mapping-historical fiction novels. This hand out was showing the expectations in what she expects to be a one a two,three,four. The other handout she gave us was A self evaluating sheet we will complete when our groups have completed the project to our best possible attempt. On this sheet you will evaluate how well your group worked throughout the project process. The next two handouts were a writing process checklist and a transition sheet showing us some helpful transitions to use instead of using the same one over and over again.
Learning intention:
The reason for writing the notes on the concept mapping was so we could really understand what they were used for what there purpose was and how to understand them. WE need to learn these skills before we can make a concept map because if we started to make one without having a clue on what the concept maps were we would all be lost and knowing how to make them gives us ways to display our information in many different ways other than in a essay which is harder to display in than a concept map .
Muddy/Marvy:
This lesson was Marvy for me because i understand now how a concept map works in showing how one main topic branches off into smaller ideas and making these connections can really help you in any way when wanting to display information. I also understood why we use concept maps which is because with pictures and lines and branches showing how topics connect it helps u understand more meaning of the details and the main subject and you can show your information in many different ways such as a venn diagram.
Connections beyond English:
You can use concept mapping when u are trying to show someone at a business meeting to show your ideas combining with the other companies showing how well the two companies will work together seeing as they are connecting to the same idea the two companies want to provoke. The companies can compare what they will give and what they will lose in many different ways through concept mapping.
Tips:
If you still need to finish your first nights questions or your chapter one notes and u cant go to flex than plan with ms.lees through emailing her a time you can work with the textbook in the morning or after school.
Homework:
Finish notes and first night questions and make sure that you are all caught up with work
