What Did We Do?
During double block today, we started off the day by finishing off some work we didn’t complete. The work we were able to choose from was: Portfolios, geography (South America) and exercise 1 for descriptive paragraphs if we were here on Tuesday. After, Ms. Lees explained to the people who weren’t here Tuesday what the others did during that day and how to do it. The people who didn’t come Tuesday had to play “catch up” and write a narrative paragraph (homework on Tuesday) and exercise 1 + exercise 2 for descriptive paragraphs (Today’s homework). After Ms. Lees showed us some examples of reading logs and taught us more about “critiquing” a person’s work on blogs without being rude. Ms. Lees also gave our class some time to work on humanities homework.
Learning Intentions
The learning intention for reviewing or teaching us about narrative/ descriptive paragraphs is to let us be able to write a proper paragraph because it will always be with you throughout your life and you will need to know it to apply for any job. The learning intention for reviewing and critiquing the blogs is to let us know the expectations of doing a learning log and the expectations as the reader. For example, your tone when you are commenting on a post.
My reflections/Connections
Marvy – I can explain the difference between a narrative and descriptive paragraph. Narrative paragraphs are used to tell a series of related events and can be used to tell an incident. Descriptive paragraphs are used to describe a particular person or place in detail. They may include the five human senses.
Being able to write an effective paragraph can help you a lot throughout your life because later on, you will need it to apply for jobs or other things that you want to achieve.
Homework and tips
- 1 narrative paragraph double spaced if you didn’t do it already. (Can use topics from heart map)
- Descriptive paragraph exercise one and two (For exercise two, you must do a paragraph plan before you start. Example in booklet page 7. May choose topic from heart map)
- Do all homework on separate sheet a paper with date, title and name on it.
- If you are not done your portfolio, there is flex tomorrow at lunch
- If you can’t post your learning log on your day, contact other members of your groups for help

ReplyDeleteyes i know and also emily this was really good but one thing you could do just to improve is you could explain how to do the homework for say example caitlin wouldn't have the booklet yet and wouldn't know what a heart map is so if you could explain those next time your log would be almost perfect but good job besides that
ReplyDeleteOkay. Thanks for the feedback!
